Prayer Covenant Vision

To purposely call on God as a congregation; to seek His direction; to intercede for the congregation; to pray for our community; and to give Him thanks for what He has done and is doing.

Prayer is an essential part of the Body of Christ. All members of the body are expected to cultivate their relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer. Some members choose to go deeper. They desire the opportunity to seek God in another person’s behalf, to pray through a concern they have for others or simply to share in giving thanks for God's blessings to them and the congregation.

It is important that people who take part in prayer ministry are accountable and know the needs of the congregation. Prayer Covenant Intercessors walk together with other committed intercessors to hold each other accountable as they purpose to pray for the church. Everyone is called to prayer. Will you courageously enter this covenant relationship?

Guidelines

And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. (1 John 5:14–15)

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. (Hebrews 4:16)

Purpose

The purpose of Prayer Covenants is to boldly enter the presence of God together as a body of believers at Blainsport. Everything that our congregation does rises and falls on God’s presence, God’s leading and God’s empowering. Prayer Covenants connect the body so that we can seek God together.

Expectations

What is expected from Prayer Covenant Intercessors?
  • Covenant Intercessors will sign a covenant for a one month commitment.
  • Covenant Intercessors will meet at least once a week at a designated location for an intentional 30 minute block of prayer (several convenient on-site or off-site locations at different times during the week) or individually for at least 30 minutes a week.
  • Covenant Intercessors will be open and responsive to the Holy Spirit in prayer.
  • Covenant Intercessors will be encouraged to pray in a small group setting.
What can Prayer Covenant Intercessors expect from the church?
  • Prayer Covenant Intercessors have access to the Prayer Covenant Resource Group for advice, guidance, support and encouragement.
  • Covenant Intercessors will receive a weekly updated “Prayer Guide.” The “Prayer Guide” will include specific concerns that our congregation is facing.
  • There will be periodic reviews of the prayer ministry.
  • The church will understand that this is a vital ministry of our congregation.
